Third Place Winner

Well this isn’t rocket science, biochemistry, or the next cure for active leg syndrome. But it does affect what is typically the largest financial decision of people’s lives.  With that being said let me ask you . . . isn’t it a pain buying or selling a home?

Good afternoon, my name is David Mills and I’ve been the owner of a non-traditional real estate brokerage for over 20 years and I’m the Founder/CEO of byBUYER.com . . . and I have a confession to make . . . I hate the real estate industry.

The traditional real estate industry consistently generates billions of dollars in revenue while simultaneously fostering disgruntled customers. In many ways they’re just downright anti-consumer. Oh, and they’re fundamentally resistant to change too.

So, a billion dollar industry that doesn’t like change, coupled with unhappy customers. Anyone see an opportunity here?

I do.

Now, another easy question: would you like a better way to buy or sell a home?

byBUYER.com will disrupt the traditional industry and in so doing put real estate in the hands of you the Consumer.

First, we need to understand an important aspect of the existing real estate industry. It’s essentially a monopoly. As it is currently, for a Broker to be in business they must have access to home listings (the MLS), and in order to have access to the MLS they must belong to The National Association of Realtors, and belonging to The National Association of Realtors means they must follow the Association's dictates. And, their dictates are designed to protect the status quo resulting in the implementation of impediments to creative business models and innovation in general; such as discount brokerage.

Within the traditional industry everyone is dependant on access to home listings and consequently the requirement of belonging to The National Association of Realtors, who in turn discourages anything but business as usual.  This home listing dependant monopoly is why attempts at new business models always fail.

So, how are we going to get around the monopoly and why are we going to succeed? Let me explain . . . and this is where we get disruptive. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The real estate revolution is beginning. We invite you to join us.
